Blogging For Law Firms

Attorneys on Demand

We’ve talked a lot about marketing on this blog. The reason we keep bringing it up is because you can be the best law firm on the planet, but if your potential clients don’t know you exist, it doesn’t mean much. Your marketing strategy needs an online component in this day and age, and that means you need Search Engine Optimization (SEO). For those that don’t know, SEO is a strategy to get your firm to the top of Google’s search results page. SEO strategies usually involve blogging. Here are a few tips to keep your blog relevant:

Stick To What You Know

You’ll notice on this blog we almost never address questions your clients might have - that’s because our clients are attorneys, and we want to keep the blog relevant to what attorneys need to know. Let’s say you’re a personal injury firm - you’ll want to run blogs about related topics. Was a company in your area just accused of selling unsafe products that got recalled? Write a blog about it. Practicing divorce law? You could write articles about the costs of divorce or how divorce rates have increased. Think about what your clients might be searching for on Google and write blogs about that very topic.

Answer Questions

This is tightly linked to thinking about what your clients might be searching for. Let’s say you’re in personal property law, and your specialty is helping your clients get paid by insurers who are refusing to payout. You might be in an area frequently plagued by hurricanes. Your customers may very well search “How to prepare for a hurricane” on Google and you can write an article that tells them exactly how to do so. Then, if they see that article, they’ll be much more likely to remember you if they do need a lawyer to help them out.

Keep It Relevant

The last thing you want to do is write just for the sake of writing - padding your numbers is not a good idea. Try to include a lot of relevant links in all of your blogs and try to answer questions sincerely and to the best of your ability. There are two things going on here: Google thinking that your website is relevant because people keep clicking links to your pages, and potential clients remembering your firm because you gave them the information they needed. Both of these things are only served if you’re delivering high-quality content, so do your research, keep things simple enough to understand, and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

We try to follow all the rules of blogging we just outlined here at Attorneys on Demand - we hope to provide you with relevant information that will help you keep abreast of happenings in the world of law, as well as techniques you can use to improve your law firm. One of these techniques is hiring a special appearance lawyer when you need one - we can find you one quickly, someone who will handle your case with care.
